Ooooh, Peter Parker/Spiderman's Vlog from CA: Civil War is posted! I'm guessing this is the beginning of the new Homecoming movie due out next week. Still good to see, even though I really want to know whether Steve and/or Bucky makes it into any of the 3 MCU films due out before Avengers: Infinity War.

Google says the title is "Good morning, soldiers" which is ironic. This is a gorgeous vid that is masterfully put together to give a comprehensive picture of James Buchanan Barnes in the MCU from his beginning as an expendable and simple soldier in TFA to the later horror and awe in CW. If you do one fannish thing today, watch this vid. You won't regret it, though your heart may bleed at the end.

So my Tumblr exploded this morning when I logged in and I tried to figure out what had happened. Apparently the new Marvel Captain America comic has Steve Rogers as a deep cover, highly placed Hydra operative......

*cue crickets chirping*

This is so strange and illogical that it sounds like a gimmick to increase comic book sales. I mean, really guys? I'm looking at you, writers at Marvel. On which planet are we supposed to believe this? Like one commentator said, it's akin to Bruce Wayne hiring thugs to kill his parents. It's absurd.

Found a hand-written list from last year about the films I'd wanted to see in 2016. There are 10 films on it. A lot more than the usual 2 per year that attract my interest. Furthermore, a total of 7 of those films are comic book&game adaptations and/or fantasy-based worlds.

It's a good year to be a "geek" ^_~

So I've been without regular internet for a week now, sheer torture!, and am catching up on all the news and clips released for the CA:CW film.

That clip with Ant-Man is so cute! Because...

I was hoping someone would write this fic! *bounces like an excited fangirl* Bucky and Sam are wonderfully in-character as they have a conversation about their mutual friend^_~ Of course, what's not being said is more important than they are actually talking about.

Great news! Natsume Yūjin-Chō aka Natsume's Book of Friends is getting a fifth anime series this autumn! XD

Yay! I adore this manga/animé, especially with the way it keeps getting better with each instalment. Thank you! *waves at mangaka and animé staff*

You've got to admire the dedication of fans. One such fan deconstructed the final fight sequence between Steve and Bucky and made it into one vid. In their words: "This is what happened - the original format of Steve and Bucky's fight."

It's certainly more brutal and angsty when viewed all at once: https://vimeo.com/102688016

Fandom: The Flash (TV series)
Rating: PG
Pairing: Leonard Snart/Barry Allen
Genre: Pre-Slash
Summary: Captain Cold is usually not in the habit of passing up a sweet deal, but he finds himself refusing this one all the same.
Warning: Spoilers for ep. 2x06
Link: http://archiveofourown.org/works/5225240

I've been trying, without much success, to find well-written Len/Barry fics and was happy to find this fic. It maintains the complexity of Len's character while acknowledging that there is potential for something between him and Barry. Lovely missing scene for the current season of Flash.

Title: The Wishing Stone
Author: greenbergsays on Ao3
Fandom: Captain America, MCU
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: James "Bucky" Barnes/Steve Rogers
Genre: Slash
Summary: “Rogers,” Natasha said as she pushed her way into Steve’s bedroom. “We have a situation. Have you seen -- oh.” She stopped short. Behind her, she knew, was the sleek, expansive space of Steve’s apartment in Stark Tower; filled to the brim with the latest gadgets and sturdiest furniture Stark could find for his favorite super soldier. The door to Steve’s bedroom, however, was a gateway to a completely different time and place.

I'm finding it hard to describe this fic. Part romance, magic, angst, and PWP in a way. But the author succeeds in evoking a powerful sense of nostalgia and true love tempered by deep sorrow. I tip my imaginary hat to the author for achieving so much in so few words.

Read it. You won't regret it.

Vidder: MCUExchange
Fandom: Multiple MCU films, e.g.: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and lastly CA:WS

The vidder says this is an unfinished/first version of this vid but I think it's already brilliant. It charts the history and paths taken by both Tony and Steve in life to reach their views in the Civil War film, and the surrounding events that led to the drafting of the Sokovia Accords. It's a beautiful vid with great sequencing.

Another thing to watch until CA:CW comes in May^_~

This week was boring and with the temperatures changing and work being a "wonderful" environment that is starting to resemble a king's court with all its intrigue, it was good to retreat into The Flash. I finally finished watching season.1 and caught up on the latest episode.

Cut for spoilers for Flash 2x13.

I opened 3 fics on Ao3. The first fic didn't have punctuation, the second fic had wrong verb tenses, and the third had so many spelling mistakes that it looked like a 3 year old wrote it. People, don't you at least check your fic before posting it to the world?!

Grabbed this from my Flist:

Your main fandom of the year?
Steve and Bucky from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The actors' chemistry and the back story attracted me, the CAWS film sealed it, and the Civil War trailer made me shout like a teenage fangirl. Sooo embarrassing^_~

Your favorite film watched this year?
I was watching and loving British film/actors in 2015, especially the Cold War era: the superb Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Kingsman the Secret Service, Man from UNCLE, and Bridge of Spies starring Tom Hanks in another great performance.

Your favorite book read this year?
Hmm.. I'd say it would be finishing Jordan L. Hawk's Spectr series. For now since there is a sequel coming.

Your favorite TV show of the year?
It was an animé, not a TV show. Fafner Exodus was a great sequel that wrapped up so many story-lines with a huge cast of characters and a sensitive treatment of life, death, and the suffering in between. Kudos to Tow Ubukata for writing a good war drama.

Your favorite online fandom community of the year?
I enjoyed them all. Nothing really stood out.

Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Tumblr is good for fanart, if nothing else^^

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
Person of Interest, season.4's ending and the way the plot folded. I am really not a fan of the lazy approach by the writers; it seems like they took the easy way out of a complicated situation.

Your TV boyfriend of the year?
I don't watch enough TV but I'd have to say Sam Wilson. LOL! His easy manner and long-suffering expressions are priceless when he deals with all the "excitement" from being around Steve Rogers and his crew!XD He's the friend everyone secretly wants.

Your TV girlfriend of the year?
Root from Person of Interest. Does anyone realise how rare it is for an American TV show to have a female character who is intelligent, capable, has no qualms about killing, and is feminine enough to admit her feelings? And she's not a blonde, blue-eyed stereotype.

Your biggest squee moment of the year?
I'm not going to lie. It was coming back from a trip abroad with no internet access and seeing the Captain America: Civil War trailer. I was so happy!

Songs of the Year?
One Time by Marian Hill. It's an odd choice for me but her voice is lovely.
